About

Piper Rob Watt was born in Lennoxtown, Stirlingshire, by the Campsie Fells. He was brought up in Glasgow and lived there for 42 years before relocating to Camberley, Surrey. Rob's piping mentor has been the highly respected Grierson Smith, originally from Annan in Dumfriesshire and ex King's Own Scottish Borderers.

Piper Rob Watt has been a member of the Surrey Pipe Band for the past five years in which time he has played on numerous band engagements including the Surrey County Show, Hendon Police College passing out ceremony and the Star & Garter Military Tattoo at Royal Armouries, Fort Nelson.

He particularly enjoys solo work and is available for any engagement, including weddings, funerals, Burns dinners and parties. Recent high profile engagements include the annual dinner of the Commanderie de Grande Bretagne de la Confrerie des Chevaliers du Sacavin d' Anjou held in the Armourers Hall in the City of London, and acting as piping escort to the Lord Mayor of London at another event in the City.

Rob plays 'Inveran' Great Highland bagpipes but can also offer Scottish smallpipes for more confined venues. His dress code on most occasions is full ceremonial 'No1' dress (with Royal Stewart tartan) but he also can provide day dress (e.g. for funerals) and evening dress (Prince Charlie jacket, dress shirt, bow tie, etc).
